New cloth on the bed and rails, and the slate seen properly.
Cloth gives out in three places: where the break lands, along the top rail where hands rest, and around the pocket mouths. When one of those opens up the rest is usually not far behind, so doing the whole table costs less than doing it twice.
It is also the only time anybody sees the slate bare. Seams, bolts and rubber get looked at properly instead of assumed, and anything out of level gets corrected then, while there is nothing in the way.
Choosing the cloth
What actually happens on the day, and what you get to choose.
- The old cloth comes off the bed and off the rails, and everything underneath gets a proper look.
- Anything out of level gets corrected there and then, while the slate is bare and nothing is in the way.
- Woollen cloth carries a nap and runs slower, which suits a room where the standard varies.
- Worsted is smooth and quick, what leagues play on. Expect balls to travel further than you are used to.
- Rubber can go on at the same visit, and should if the cushions are deadening returns.

What finished looks like
Boston Pool Table Movers and Stripes And Solids guarantee all of our work. If you use our services and feel that something was done incorrectly, or that your table is becoming unlevel, we will come back out and fix the issue. That is good for 90 days after your service is completed.
Our normal appointment times are 8 to 9 am and 12 to 1 pm, Monday to Friday. Please feel free to call between 8 am and 5 pm, or leave a voicemail any time of day. There is an additional cost of $30 if we need to carry the table up stairs on an installation. On a home to home move we do not charge extra for stairs on a three piece slate table, and we will not move one piece slate tables.
